Haiku of the day

PS3 release
Did we stand in line? ‘fraid not.
No good games are out.

  1. Elana:

I was wondering if you were. I mean, people (insane) have been waiting for days, and one from JP sold on eBay for over $10k.

Yeah. We were going to, but then we realized there are no good games coming out before 2007. So what’s the point? When we bought the PS2 we ended up buying 2 or 3 pretty sucktastic games just to have them, and we really don’t need to do that now.

So if we see one, we will purchase it immediately, but if we don’t, we can wait until we do.

I have to admit that I wouldn’t mind having one just to see how it’s different, even if the only games we have to play on it right now are PS2 games. (And maybe a few PS1 games that don’t play on the PS2 because the drive laser is out of whack.) But I can certainly wait a few months.

And about 8000 PS2 games won’t work on the PS3.

    Well, that’s debatable.

FF7, for instance, played -better- on the PS2 than our PSX. There were several FMVs in that game that jerked and sputtered to the point of unwatchability when viewed on the PSX, due to flaws in the CD manufacturing process. But on the PS2, these scenes flowed perfectly.

Our PS2, being one of the release versions, had some problems. I don’t know that it’s just PSX games that won’t play — there are a few PS2 games that won’t start up either (Okage comes to mind), and that’s got to be a combination of failure on both ends.
