Terms Explained

IC (In Character)
Things that relate to your character. For example, ICly you are 10 Turns old. This means that your character is 10 Turns. What age you are usually doesn't matter. Some positions such as journeyman have IC age restrictions.
OOC (Out Of Character)
Things that relate to you, the player. Channel conversations are OOC because it's the players talking about the characters, world peace, or their favorite burritos. OOC concerns such as 'I need a room' or 'So and So is bothering me' should be addressed to the wizards.
RP (Roleplay)
Roleplaying is acting as your character would act. Rping effectively involves knowing your character and coming up with interesting activities and plotlines for them to do.
NPC (Non Player Character)
Characters who aren't logged into and played by any particular player. Usually on DU NPC Admins will be played very rarely and only for character development and the advancement of plot. Other NPCs might include children, drudges, or just someone your character might be flirting with. NPCs may or may not have much depth behind their character, but they're usually fun to play with. You don't need to do anything special to use an NPC of your own creation, simply add what they're doing to your poses.
PC (Player Character)
Characters who are logged into and played by one specific player.
PD (Player Dolphin/Player Dragon)
Dolphins and dragons on DU may be played by applying like you would for other characters. They have some limitations: dolphins can't leave the water, dragons can't fit into the kitchens. But of course they can also be really cool to play.
