One of my New Year’s resolutions (ok, the ONLY one, because I’ve simply no chance of keeping any) is to post more. Every day if I can manage it.<\/p>\n
To start that off right, here we are with a quick update.<\/p>\n
Back before Thanksgiving, E, Carl, mom and I went down to the new IKEA. The visit was moderately successful and I purchased all of the bathroom fixtures that we had been lacking (plus a shelf which I thought was a towel bar until I got it home). The only unsuccessful part was IKEA’s fault, when we were stuck in line at the register for about 30 minutes due to the entire register computer system crashing. (This failure repeated itself a few days later, an event significant enough to get it mentioned in the Boston Globe. I certainly hope they managed to get it up and stable prior to the Christmas season.)<\/p>\n
Once we got home, the drill was uncharged, so my momentum for putting things up was utterly lost. It all sat in bags upon the floor for several days.<\/p>\n
I was forced into partial action when Bob, at my request, took down the annoying plastic drapes that had been in front of the sliding glass doors. This left that whole area open to public view, and as the view was of the living room, it made me very uncomfortable. Thus I had to get the new drapes up post-haste. This I did, though without hemming them in any fashion so they were piled up at the bottom with extra fabric.<\/p>\n
There things stood until after Thanksgiving (uneventful for once, at least for me — more on that later) when the messiness of the drapes finally got me to locate my pins and pin them up to the proper length. As of now, they’re still like that, though I hope that this weekend I’ll find the motivation to get them properly hemmed up.<\/p>\n
Next on the agenda were the bathroom fixtures, which, aside from the towel rack which Bob was tasked to put up (and did), continued to sit on the floor in our front room.<\/p>\n
But finally this weekend I got off my duff and put it all up. Toilet paper holder, the shelf-that-is-not-a-towel-rack and a spice rack which is not actually in the bathroom and was acquired not at IKEA but as a Christmas present.<\/p>\n
And to make it even more of an event, I actually cleaned the bathroom. The shower could still use a serious deepclean, but the rest of it looks very nice now, and even the shower is much better than it was.<\/p>\n
