Going to try and revive this.<\/p>\n

Goals for May (blogwise):
* Post every day
* Full in the stubs from the past 3 months that still aren’t ready to publish
* A new layout — possibly switching to wordpress.<\/p>\n

Other goals include finishing the upstairs bathroom and perhaps finally getting a job. :P <\/p>\n

Yesterday we went to see Hitchhiker’s with E and Carl. Now, plans were made to meet beforehand at Kelly’s<\/a> for a quick meal. But I wasn’t thinking very hard about geography when we made the plans, and thought since the theatre was in Revere, naturally we’d want to go to the Revere branch. (And of course J and Bob didn’t provide a negative to this.) It wasn’t until we were approaching said branch that I started to think that the Saugus one was much closer to the theatre, and actually had tables, unlike this one, which is a beachfront stand.<\/p>\n

So, dinner didn’t work out. We did get to the theatre in plenty of time and there ate some greasy food at the foodcourt. Very disappointing after one is thinking about roast beef, but what are you going to do?<\/p>\n

The movie was decent as movies go. Parts were extremely clever and parts were not. Of course, it was very different from the book, and wise indeed was this choice! This wasn’t my opinion in the past, but no good can come of being -too- tied to the text. This is not to say that movies based upon books should be free to make an awful ridiculous hash of a book to the point where it’s beyond redeption (See Anne 3<\/a> for an example of this.), but books and movies are not the same. Things that work in one format don’t necessarily work in the other. The first two Harry Potter movies sucked as a result of failing to understand this and write a real movie script. Series of Unfortunate Events and Prisoner of Azkaban worked well. Not perfectly, but well. Lord of the Rings goes without saying.<\/p>\n

The choice of accent for Zaphod could hardly have been accidental, though I felt at times that it was distracting me. Still, it was amusing, especially during certain lines.<\/p>\n
