This complicated many things, not the least of which was Mother&#8217;s day.  She wouldn&#8217;t get home until 6:30 at night, and after working all day long would have no interest at all in going out to eat.  For the past 4 years, since I&#8217;ve been back in the area, I&#8217;ve always gotten around this by driving over and picking up dinner.  It made for a late night for me, but otherwise worked very well.<\/p>\n<p>This year though, mom has changed jobs. She now has the weekend off. And I made the mistake(?) of reminding J1 that this weekend was mother&#8217;s day &#8212; so I suspected that he was going to go over today.  So Bob and I trekked over in the mid-afternoon, managing to beat J1 by about 20 minutes.  J2 was at work, so the 4 of us ended up going out to dinner together.  J1 paid for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>I probably shouldn&#8217;t let him do this; we could have at least insisted on paying for ourselves, if not for half of mom&#8217;s meal.  But he&#8217;s just so obnoxious.
