Finished with FF7. I think this is the 4th time I’ve played it (though only the 2nd time I’ve actually gone through to the end), which means even with the occasionally horrendous translation, the plot, disjointed as it is, is understandable.<\/p>\n

I guess it’s hard to strike the right balance with that. You don’t want to make the plot completely linear or else the game is dull. But if too many scenes essential to understanding are triggered by going to obscure places or can only be seen during a very small window, you can come away with a lot of confusion and loose ends if you didn’t manage to pick them all up.<\/p>\n

Decided, after some waffling, to play FF6 next. One, because the theme, which we heard at the concert last week, was very catchy. And two, because it was originally a SNES game which means it all had to fit on a cartridge and can’t be all that long.<\/p>\n

After, I’m not sure. I sort of want to actually finish FF8 — there’s another game I’ve started at least twice and never managed to sustain a level of interest long enough to finish. Haven’t played FFX at all. I’m not sure we even own FFXI. And then there’s Harvest Moon, of which we have several versions, none of which I’ve ever completed.<\/p>\n
