But this was convenient for us, since otherwise we’d have needed to change to pants in Atlanta. Instead we wore them from the start. Since our flight was late (not until 5:30) and check out was 11, after we checked out, we stowed our luggage at the hotel and went to play some minature golf to pass the early afternoon before going to the airport.

There are two courses within the Disney complex, but the one at Blizzard Beach was easiest to reach, as we were able to get there direct from the hotel rather than a roundabout method of going to a park and taking a bus to another resort from there. WinterSummerland is its name, and the theme is Santa in winter and Santa in summer.

It’s what I call a real mini-golf course, with obstacles and strange holes, rather than one of the ones so popular around here, which are more landscaped. We had time to play both sides, and since it was hard to play and hold the camera at the same time, we both took lots of pictures — since standing there with the camera when it wasn’t your turn left little else to do.

It grew warmer as we were playing and I eventually took off the long sleeved shirt I was wearing, though I never really felt hot. In fact, I never felt that way the entire trip — it was so lovely. Normally I spend vacations outside melting and feeling like a disgusting sweaty ball in spite of any fun I might be having, but there was none of that this time.

Bob won the first round, then I won the second and we went back to the hotel to await the arrival of our airport shuttle. While Bob got the luggage for us, I took a walk around the Pop Century, since that was one thing we hadn’t done at all yet. The shuttle arrived right on time and we got to the airport with plenty of time to spare.

It was there that we faced the longest line we had all week: at the security checkpoint. It wound back and forth for 5 or 6 rows and took what seemed like forever to get through. We delayed getting into it until after we’d eaten lunch, but soon we had no choice but to face it.

After we’d gone through the metal detectors of doom we took the tram over to the gates and waited to be ushered on board. This airplane wasn’t as big as the one we’d taken down; no screens in the back of the seat. But it got to Atlanta on time, and we even had time before catching our connection back to get some ice cream. Ben and Jerry’s. Oatmeal Chunk. Mmmmmm.

We arrived back in NH to frigid temperatures and dark. But we found the car all right and got home.

Our last day in Florida seemed like it was going to be as cold as Wednesday had been from the way the morning began.
