I had class today, which usually makes it long. But even though I’m ever tempted to skip it, I went, and it was good. I’m slowly making progress, I think.

AT&T are still persisting in their idiocy, but as of tonight, the idiocy seems to be working to our advantage. A certain someone procrastinated paying the cable bill to the point where they were going to shut it off. But he called them at the last minute and paid them. Then they decided to shut it off anyway, on Wednesday, because the moron who took the call decided to accept the payment but not actually mark the account as paid. So I called and found that we had this huge balance, and so I paid it, and the genius there told me that they couldn’t schedule someone to come out and reconnect it until the 14th. Actually, I can’t really be mad at her, exactly, even though the account should have been showing a payment and she didn’t notice it. As far as both she and I knew, it was a perfectly legitimate thing that they had cut it off. But when she scheduled the appointment, she scheduled it wrong (which we found out today.)

So Okina got back from his trip last night and said he’d paid it. So this morning he called them up to remind them that not only had they been paid, they’d been paid twice. In Full. So, since now it was obviously their error that caused the bulk of this incident, they should move their butts a little faster to get us hooked up again. But apparently this is not possible, and because Chick #1 messed up the work order, the appointment was re-scheduled to the 15th.

So our plan was to keep calling them every day until they finally sent someone over here to correct their mistake (I wouldn’t be so mad at them if the biggest error hadn’t been on their side.) But tonight, Okina went upstairs and found out that the upstairs cable is still somehow working. It’s a mystery. There may be two lines, or we may somehow have our upstairs jack connected to the neighbor’s cable. But there’s no way we have of knowing, as the jack in question was there when we moved in. So now everything but the downstairs tv is reconnected to that jack. I don’t really think it matters, though Okina is having some squiffiness over the thought that we’re stealing cable. We’re not stealing it. We PAID for it. Next week… or whenever… the cable person will come and fix the downstairs.

Today on the way to work I was listening to the radio, and they were playing that song “Cherish is the word I use to describe…” When it was over, the guy on the radio said “And that was for Ted, from Dave.” The nicest part was that this was the radio station that comes […]

[4,5
