After a pause to fight a random battle (and darned if it didn’t take me forever to get one), we end up in Sweegy Woods. Algus starts complaining about running into monsters (Why the heck is he so surprised?!) and Delita tells him not to be a whiny git. After defeating the monsters, we move on to the Dorter Slums, looking for information. We find two men arguing about what’s happened to someone named Gustav. One, a knight, demands to know what the other has done with the Marquis. After beating his informant around a little, he finds that the Marquis is being held in the desert, but any further information is not to be gained as he’s interrupted by the arrival of Our Heros. Delita thinks he recognized the knight. Oh, hints of conspiracy…

The battle begins and Delita has a brainstorm: The knight’s name was Wiegraf. The leader of the Death Corps. Interesting that he wanders around doing his own dirty work.

After the battle, Algus, Delita and Ron interrogate one of the prisoners. Or rather, Algus beats him up and throws a hissy fit while the other two look on. The captured man claims that the plot to kidnap the Marquis wasn’t Wiegraf’s plan at all. That a kidnapping for ransom is beneath them. That it was.. Gustav. Algus and Ron are both clueless, of course, but Delita comes through with the information again: Gustav is the captain of the Death Corps. [He’s one connected little peasant boy.] Algus fumes at the news and kicks the man around some more. They guess that the Marquis is being held in the Zeklaus desert by Gustav.

More FFT blog: So we take off from Igros.
