04:45 ~ gaze at the moon

Talk about shameless plug! Michael Eisner comes on about halfway through the first part of Dinotopia and he's yakking away (I was fastforwarding, so I don't know what he actually said) and then suddenly Stitch is there. Not at /all/ relevant.

We finally met a character with some life to him. A CGI dinosaur. Figures, don't it? Disney's best actors have always been animated.

03:56 ~ gaze at the moon

So I'm watching Dinotopia finally. I'm probably about 45 minutes into it. The plot so far: Guy and his two sons are flying in a plane. Plane goes down in a storm and sinks. Father goes down with it. Boys swim to shore 'What is this place?' Well, it just looks like an island, dude.

Turns out to be *gasp* Dinotopia. The boys spend exactly 10 seconds discussing the loss of their father. And I do mean discussing. They're clearly not in shock or mourning or anything. And then it's all 'Right then, let's set off to find someone.'

Then for awhile they seem to have this notion that if they can just get to a phone to call the coast guard, their father will be rescued. Like, /dude/, he drowned.

Of course I'm about as sure that he's dead as I'm sure Gandalf is, but at least the hobbits cared!

And so far the only emotion out of any of these actors is fear. And they're not all that great at it either.

18:01 ~ gaze at the moon

Still waiting for my HP DVD. Grrr.

Finished some books, which are in my book list.

Spider-man: Very good movie novelization and Peter David threw in enough references to make me happy. I suppose it's entirely possible I missed one or two, not being a comic book fan. Still, Peter David did seem a bit restrained. Maybe it's because most of the book was Peter's point of view.

Diplomatic Immunity: This seemed a bit more like a short story. Didn't have some of the characters I really like. Bel was back, at least, but.. Hey, at least now I can read K's review. Boy, can she write!

Stardust: Not my typical reading fare. This makes sense since it's Jen who gave it to me. I liked it. I'll read more Gaiman now, okay? :)

Is it bad that I read these things and think of HP? Spider-man had a Peter and a Harry. Stardust had a Bridget and a Tommy married with Victoria as a daughter. (Slytherin fest!)

Haven't started a new book yet, but we'll see if I can manage to finish one more before the end of the month.

12:56 ~ gaze at the moon

Reading Spider-man. Anyway, we get the spider's motivation in the book! If you were.. wondering about that sort of thing. But the spider dies. He scuttled off in the movie, didn't he? Sam Raimi leaving room for a sequel/Spiderwoman where Peter David was unconcerned with such?

Opera's remembering my cookies again, btw.. no clue why.

I am SpongeBob, which I've never actually watched.

I don't like Coke. Vanilla Coke makes Coke drinkable. And well, I like the /idea/ of it better than I like the taste. It needs more vanilla. Now what I want is pina colada soda or cherry vanilla soda.

Ep II: Sooo slashy, as K said. You just know that in the ten years or so we didn't get to see, there was some hot Jedi loving going on. And besides that, there's R2 and 3PO!

Speaking of the droids. They were the comic relief this time (at least the /intended/ comic relief) and they do it so much better than JarJar. Moreso because R2 actually does a useful thing or two. Though I don't believe 3PO did anything but doodle around being comic and slashy.

JarJar... well, if he couldn't /quite/ bring himself to get rid of him, he did the best he could. He doesn't have much of a part and it seemed like when he /did/ talk, it was always in the background.. so his voice wasn't as bothersome as it could've been.

Best part of the movie? Yoda.

Worst part of the movie? No hot Jedi loving.

Overall impression: Too much action, not enough talk.

And I'll close with this: Obi-Wan's going to kill her.

04:57 ~ gaze at the moon

Spiderman question: Peter got bit by that spider.. which seemed awfully /eager/ to bite him. The spider then scuttled away, safely alive. To go bite more people? Certainly seems reasonable. Are we going to see an army of Spidermen in the next movie? Or just Spiderwoman?

17:34 ~ gaze at the moon

I made a minor change to the format of my book list and now I can't understand it. Opera is showing me a space between April and the list, but no space between May and the list, but the code is exactly the same.

Trying to decide what book to start next. Probably Diplomatic Immunity because everyone's got Miles fever.

I've been kinda productive yesterday and today. Laundry, trash, and unemployment. Not to mention too much online stuff including an IRC meeting. Waste of 3 hours is what it is.

03:09 ~ gaze at the moon

And now I present to you.. A Desc, in Two Parts:

You see before you, unless you're blind or your eyes are closed or you're simply not looking in the correct direction, a young boy. That is, he looks like a young boy. It's possible he's quite old and is just the victim of a glandular problem or the recipient of a youth spell. But we'll assume for the moment that he is a young boy. He looks to be about 11. He certainly shouldn't be any younger than that, since he's wearing a Hogwarts uniform. The uniform appears later in this description, however. He has hair, as most children do. It's black. The fact that it's black is quite strange, seeing as how he's Irish. Which you can tell if he's currently speaking as he has quite the thick accent. So this young boy is Irish and has black hair, if you're trying to keep track of where we're at. And his hair is short, but neither well-combed nor all askew. It's hair that most boys have if they don't want their mothers costantly fussing about it. Not that his mother is probably anywhere near Hogwarts, but you don't know that for sure. It's possible his mother is Professor Sprout for all you know. Anyway, on to his eyes. They're blue. Not a cobalt blue, not a sea blue, not a blue that looks purple in the right light. No, they're just blue. And he's short. But he's 11. Most children are short at the age of 11. That's what makes them children. So have you got all that? He's Irish, black short hair, blue eyes, and he's a typical height for a young 11 year old boy. Too bad he's actually a girl.

She's wearing a Gryffindor uniform, complete with skirt.

There once was a pair of teachers
With really quite interesting features
He had a hooked nose
She was missing some toes
And I don't have a rhyme except bleachers

There once was a girl in Gryffindor
With aims to turn a threesome to four
She had a weird broom
And a boy who went boom
But that wasn't enough for this who--

There once was a blogger, it's true
Whose limericks sucked donkey doo
The rhymes were quite lame
And the scanning a shame
But who can do better? Can you?

19:27 ~ gaze at the moon

First, a short whine about Opera not saving my cookies. There's an option to clear all cookies when exiting, but I do /not/ have it set. I even set it and unset it trying to fix this problem. No luck. Grr. It /did/.. the first day or two I installed it. It just.. stopped saving them. Grumble, mumble.

Second, here's something cool. This is what I've managed to learn.. I hope I'm not spreading misinformation. Super Dollfie dolls are resin dolls with joints and they're customizable. Most likely the inspiration for Angelic Layer. So if you've seen/read Angelic Layer, you've got the idea. Only, of course, they don't fight. :)

There are few boy bodies, but they're coming out with more. Yay, bishounen! I have latent arts and crafts talent, inherited from my Mom. I'd love to get my hands on one of these to play with. But they're a bit expensive. And of course you have to import them from Japan.

The link above is to an English website about them, with further links to a Yahoogroup and Webring and etc.

Jen, I think it might appeal to you on several levels. So go look! :) Here's the link again if you missed it the first time. ;)

*kicks blogger somewhere painful*

Look! I was /just/ looking for that and it was only in UK release. But now.. it's here!
