02:58 ~ gaze at the moon

So I couldn't log into blogger. So I tell it to Email me my password. So it does.. so it's something ridiculously simple and definitely /not/ what my password was. So I'm paranoid.

And all that also meant I didn't get far in adding comments to my blog. Like.. practically nowhere.

So :P~~~~

23:15 ~ gaze at the moon

And for completeness' sake, I am..

1. Slytherin
2. Ravenclaw
3. Gryffindor
4. Hufflepuff

But I coulda told you that. :)

Get yourself Sorted!

23:11 ~ gaze at the moon

So here's my Harry Potter character results. Now.. I predicted Percy Weasley. So either I'm just cool like dat, or it sticks what you tell it as your #1 result.

1. Percy Weasley
2. Draco Malfoy
3. Hermione Granger
4. Ron Weasley
5. Albus Dumbledore
6. Bill Weasley
7. Minerva McGonagall
8. Severus Snape
9. Remus Lupin
10. Voldemort

The remaining ones, in order are.. Charlie, Harry, Lockhart, Fred/George (why they're both together, I don't know), Ginny, Neville, Black, and Hagrid.

Interesting, ne? Percy and then Draco. I'm either really good or really bad. Or Percy's hiding something. :)

20:37 ~ gaze at the moon

I'm only 54% otaku. It was a long (200 questions) test and rather outdated. Now to see if there's a shoujo test. If not, we need to make one. :)

Oh, here's the Otaku Test.

19:53 ~ gaze at the moon

Okay. One more. If I were an online personality test, I would be The James Bond Villain Personality Test.

"Your answers suggest a correspondence of 93% to The James Bond Villain Personality Test."

We rock, Takepon.

I wanted to take the villain test, because I can't remember if I've taken it before, but a google search points me to a site that's down. :(

Anyway, here's some more.

In my past life, I was an entertaining, witty, very small monkey.

My super power is Animal Communication.

If I were a robot, I'd be R2D2.

And here's my burrito analysis:

"Hmm, you appear to be something of a burrito newcomer. Or perhaps you haven't allowed yourself to explore.
Your resourcefulness is reflected in your ability to make the most of a low-price rice & bean burrito.
You have great fear of risk -- you have avoided all strong flavors."

If I were in Starfleet, I would be a lieutenant jg in medical.

14:01 ~ gaze at the moon

If I were a work of art, I would be Piet Mondrian's Composition A.

I am rigidly organised and regimented, although my cold and unapproachable exterior hides a clever way of thinking and a rebellious and innovative nature. A lot of people don't understand me, but I can still affect them on an emotional level.

----------

Now, I don't agree with that assessment at all, nor do I agree with E's. But I do like the painting.. so I have to give it credit for that.

16:43 ~ gaze at the moon

Alright, now for final thoughts.

* They either cut out the previews or there were none. I rather doubt that there weren't any.

And I'm going to watch some scary outtakes and othe extras now.

* Okay, that's good. The bits they put into English, they've got in Japanese in the extras under 'slates'. If their slates on the first DVD had been more complete, that would've solved one of my complaints.

* Alright, and I can now retract my comment about the romaji.. they've included a 'sing-a-long' with the romaji and a bouncing.. fishcake, or whatever that swirly thing is. :) And considering they also include creditless versions in the extras, I guess it's all good.

Lots of these bits would be good filler.

*splutter* The outtakes are getting better. Or maybe it's just because Takeo's va is hysterical and there weren't outtakes of him before. I'm just waiting for one of the girls to do a band camp joke.

Okay, that's enough of that. Very amusing, but now I have to wait forEVER for the next volume. Sniff.

15:58 ~ gaze at the moon

Bah.. silly blogger and Ie. I didn't mean to publish that, but by going 'back', it did it. Hmf. Well, maybe I won't have more comments later.

15:56 ~ gaze at the moon

Okay, more comments. Figures.

* School uniforms match the books more than the OVA. That is, I think the pants weren't green in the OVA.

* His Aya-ness. Okay, that's pretty good. :)

15:37 ~ gaze at the moon

Okay. Thought I could get away with just straight watching this without commenting, but I can't. This is MTT Volume 4 (the first volume of the TV series) I haven't seen these before, so these comments will be on more than just the subtitling and dubbing jobs.

* Magic words are at least consistently wrong.

* Another it's/its problem.

* It's 'grimoire', not 'grimore'. I think they got this right once, so this was probably a typo.

* Gotta love a series that starts out with ecchiness. The /good/ kind.

* The character designs are slightly different. They look a bit younger, somehow. Takeo's looking even less bishounen. Siiigh. He looks so danged cool in the shoujo manga too.

* Most of the opening song is in English. Repetitive English. Basically 'I wanna do more, do more. I wanna do more. I wanna do it do it do it, do more.' And it's fairly clear English, so it seriously did not need all those repetitions subtitled.

* Speaking of, whatever happened to the traditional style of doing the OPs? English, Romaji, Kanji (or nothing). You know, a little variety.

* Oh yea, and noticed this in the ovas. When more than one person is speaking, they've got their subtitles all in the same font and color, so it's difficult to tell them apart. Otherwise the subtitles are a good color, good font, well-timed, etc.

* Akane somehow acquired a tattoo.

I'll post this now, because I didn't really have many (one) additional comments for the second episode. If I come up with something in episode 3 or 4, I'll just put it in a new post. Yup.

15:22 ~ gaze at the moon

MTT Volume 2

No real comments here except that the outtakes were /sooo/ scary that some of them were actually funny.

13:50 ~ gaze at the moon

Here's some thoughts on the commercial MTT subtitling. This is mostly chronological.

* They're using the word 'magician'. While not technically incorrect, and possibly even slightly more correct than witch or wizard.. come on, they're witches! They're too cute to be anything else. And they're wearing witch outfits! Don't these people at.. Anime Works.. know that witches and wizards are cool now?
-- Additional thought. 'Magician' implies someone who /fakes/ magic. Who uses illusion and things to trick you into thinking they're using magic. So actually, it's an entirely incorrect term to use in this case.

* It's Izadi Aba Mehinam(u) Eto Kafe Nan. Not.. Isaki apam mehinam eto caffe nam. They seriously need to give these translators a copy of the manga or the original script or /something/ when they're working. :P It make me almost curious enough to see what the dub says. Almost.. maybe when I'm finished.. there's something I wanted to check in the raw version.

* Learn the difference between your and you're, dudes.

* At least be /consistent/ when you mess up the magic words. That time the 'aba' was correct.. at least they're getting closer? Jeez.

* I'm almost willing to give them points for spelling Koyasu's name correctly. But no, I'm not feeling generous.

* They're using 'senior' for 'sempai'. Which is fine. Except that just now they twice in a row misspelled it as 'senoir'.

* Its not it's. Hate that.

* Now I'm comparing their cast list to Doi's. There's a discrepancy in the character 'Minowa Minoru', the dvd has 'Minowa Mitsuru' (name order mine, not the dvd's).Hrm, there's a non-Japanese name /plus/ a Japanese name for Jeff-kun. Odd. Doi doesn't list anyone.

* Hey! There's a novelization credit. Dang. I'll never be able to find that.

* Looking at the English credits.. my word. There's a Mike, MIchael, Michele, Michelle, and another Michael.

Now to do the scary.. gonna watch a bit of the raw and then a bit of the dub.

* Well, that's annoying. The bit I wanted to check is in English even if you choose the raw option. I wanted to compare the name/stats popups with the original. Would have to try to find my fansubs now if I wanted to do it. Not worth it.

Dub.

* CRINGE! CRINGE!

* Oh my poor Ayanojou, even poor Takeo.. what they've done to you.

* Okay, apparently they took the bad transcription of the magic words and then pronounced them badly! When Sae said it, it came out 'Isaki epam mehinam eto kafe nam'. 'epam' rhymes with 'napalm'.

* Okay, maybe I'll forgive Ayanojou's va here.. he sounded like Team Rocket's James just then and well, could be worse than that. Since James is /so/ gay. :)

* Sae's va keeps calling him TakaGUra. Erg. That's okay though, because Nanaka's calling her 'Sai'. And then Takeo's is getting back at her with 'Nakatani' instead of 'Nakatomi'.

* Bah, changing things that don't need to be changed.

Okay, this is like a train wreck and I seriously need to stop watching it.

I'll leave you with a quote though. "Stop staring at my bottom!"

Alright, on to the extras.

* In the art gallery, they spelled Akane's name as 'Akani' and didn't give us any solo shots of the guys! Hmf.

And that's that for Volume 1.

12:20 ~ gaze at the moon

Finished No Quarter by Tanya Huff. And the climax was basically the same climax as another book. Plus she seems to like walking dead. Still, it was good. Not great, but good. Watching MTT now. My first Tv volume came, yay! So I'm gonna watch all the OVAs first. :)

15:23 ~ gaze at the moon

So since no one's on, I might as well get blog credit for my spam. First of all though, my fic idea isn't going to work. When my half-asleep brain conjured up the idea, it was with the thought that Snape and Riddle were contemporaries. Later thought revealed to me that they weren't. My brain can be forgiven though, because it had just woken up from a dream in which I was Bill Weasley and following after Harry doing /something/ or other. But anyway, Bill was older than the twins, but barely. So my mind was messing around with people's ages left and right.

So the trend of weird sleep continues. Went to bed around 4ish, got woken up at 7ish. We left the house earlier than we had planned to even. Stopped for gas/food/random stuff, then stopped at the Lee outlet stores.. got cheap books! Mom got a London Fog coat cuz she liked my trenchcoat so much. Got one little present for Grandma for C'mas, so it's a start.

Then we got haircuts and finally tried that deli. Not bad. Mom wasn't thrilled with it though. Then we went shopping. They wanted the meatballs I had gotten before, but they were out. :( So they got different fake meatballs instead.

And that's that. I'll be crashing as soon as I finish my sub, unless someone logs in to distract me. :)
